What does it mean to do work well—and what does that work make of us?
The Long Way is a short film about people who keep returning to their work with care, curiosity, and the desire to make something that lasts.
Inside the DANCER CAST Workshop in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a team of craftsmen turns raw materials into custom terrazzo stairs. In nearby Delphos, Ohio, the man who built their casting tables is still trying to make each weld better than the last, after 60 years.
Through their work and conversations, the film explores attention, creativity, the difficulty of getting things right, and the people who help us become better. Some people believe true craftsmanship belongs to the past. We don’t believe so.
Featuring Marshall Aspy, Kyle Stratton, Ben Doege, Larry McClure, and Nick Dancer.
