Institute For Orthopaedic Surgery (IOS), in Lima, Ohio, expanded their footprint recently with an addition. Dancer Concrete Design’s CAST Team poured and polished 26 terrazzo structural steps and a landing for the front lobby of IOS. The epoxy terrazzo stair treads are 8 feet long, 12 inches deep, and 3 inches thick, with a 12° nosing angle. Each tread has embedded steel reinforcement and two black urethane nosing strips across the top. A custom mix of marble chips, recycled glass, and broken mirror was chosen for the project. Once cast, the treads were polished to an interior step finish.
